1. India has been ranked at the 6th place in the top rankings of space-faring nations as per a report published by a Chinese research institution. As per the report, India’s accomplishment in becoming the only Asian country to send a spacecraft to Mars has earned it a place in the top rankings of space-faring nations.

United States secured the first rank in the list followed by Europe, Russia and China. The report also mentions emerging countries in space represented by Canada and the South Korea, which closely follow China, Japan and India.

2. India was ranked at the 24th position out of 70 countries in the first Environmental Democracy Index 2015 published by Washington-based World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Access Initiative last week. Lithuania topped the list followed by Latvia and Russia. The index evaluates the environmental democracy in 70 countries based on recognized international standards.

3. AIADMK Chief Jayalalithaa sworn in for the fifth time as Tamil Nadu chief minister by Governor K Rosaiah. With this she came back as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, nearly eight months after she was forced to quit over corruption charges.

4. Private Sector Company Tata Power will move out of the stock market benchmark index Sensex and will be replaced by drug maker Lupin. Also Adani Power will be dropped from the S&P BSE 100 index.
